Default Auto stop start message and stalling

Hi all, 2020 f150 5.0 I bought used with 50k miles in 2023 now it has 90k. I turned OFF auto stop start after starting the vehicle tonight (light rain, 70 degrees outside) got to a stop sign then truck stalled and display read “auto stop start shift to P then am restart engine” it start fine in neutral and got me home. Is this the battery not knowing how old it really is or should I just buy the disabler and I should be good? I have a warranty for the next 30k miles.

I had the same issue a few months ago. My guess is that it's because my battery was weak and near the end of its useful life. I have noticed on my truck that as the battery gets older, I get more "issues" with the truck. I replaced the battery recently and the issue has not happened again.

My guess is the battery as well. Seems just on the verge, when it gets a bit low it will not allow as/s to work as it should (actually that's a great tell sign). Anyways, if you are good about interstate drives (good charges) and have another hiccup, I'd have it tested.

ok thanks! I did turn off the auto stop start and it still stalled. It’s under warranty still so I’m taking it in Thursday just to be sure. Luckily it fired back up no problem right after it stalled.
