Default Auto running boards error

so today i dropped a buddy off that was riding in the back seat, when he got out he didn't shut the rear door completely and the truck gave me a dash notification about the rear door being ajar. another vehicle was stopped behind me so I continued and would just shut it completely later when i got home. The automatic running boards went up/down/up/down etc the entire time until i pulled over at a gas station to shut the door completely. Thought this was quite odd that they would do that. Anyone else have any input? ill keep an eye on them from here on out. 9 months so far and this is my first truck issue

Sounds normal. The door open sensor kept getting opened and closed with the shaking and the bumping of the vehicle / door, and the running boards responded appropriately.

I thought I read in the manual the the running boards will automatically stow if above a certain speed. In that case, shouldn't they not keep opening and closing except if he is coming to a stop at a traffic light or stop sign?

I'd be more worried about if they are still doing it with all doors closed. Then this is moot.

I was in the same thought process as philly33flyers, if I'm driving 45+mph they shouldn't still be down. I just tried to recreate the issue and drove through my neighborhood, they just stayed down the entire time. Maybe i was in the middle of whether the truck thought i should have them upon and where the door was registering as open.
