Default Auto Running boards

Hey all, 2018 3.5 eco platinum, is there anyway around the computer to keep the running boards down? Our computer does not seem to remember our numerous request to have this happen in the control center. The driver side seems to get confused on where it is and opens part way or not at all sometimes. Anyone know where the sensors are? We’ve taken it in to the dealership for this issue before and it worked for a while.

If you set them to stay down, they will still automatically go up once you get in and drive the truck. They do not stay down permanently unlike the 'up' option where it does stay up permanently until you change it back to auto or down. If they are coming down slowly or getting stuck and going back up or anywhere in between, 90% of the time, the hinges are dirty and needs to be cleaned/lube or the motor is going bad. If you want them permanently down, open a door so they deploy, and then unplug the running board motor. It is right above hinge at the front of the truck.

Have them on my 2017 and I recommend not leaving them down while driving. These power RB's go lower and protrude out further than fixed running boards. Sure would hate to hit something with them in the extended/down position? Just saying....

Thank you. We gave them a good cleaning and lube job. Thanks for the tip.
