Default Audio Systems

2015 xlt with 8” screen

A couple weeks back, I went to install an adapter to add subs to my stock radio. Well, when I turned over the key it sparked and started smoking and all my speakers went out. Shame on me for trusting a Chinese product.

However, after replacing the speakers and stereo I do not get any sound. They get power and the stereo fuse is not blown. The subs get sound and power.

I dont believe this truck has an amp. But kind of stuck at this point.

If you have an amp, most likely is behind the rear seat.
if nothing there, then the radio may be damaged or you are missing to replace a fuse.
what did you installed, where and how?

I installed a brand new rocksford fosgate speaker to test whether the speakers were actually blown or not but still not sound. I checked 95% of the fuses both under the hood and passenger kick panel.

I have to find a way to look behind my back seat as the pull tab was stuck and not letting me bring down the backseat when I got my truck from the previous owner.

Use an small wrench to pull the lever and lower the back seat.

You replaced the radio, is this the OEM radio? Was it programmed to your truck? Did you use the exact same part number for the radio?

The OEM radio was the 8” sync radio. I replaced it with a ipad style radio. The speakers receive power but no audio from both the oem and new radio.

I believe a fuse may have popped when the stereo shorted out. However, I have no clue which ones would be effected other than the stereo fuse.

I checked for an amp and did not find one behind the rear seats.
