Default Audio control module

so - I have a 2015 f150 screw w / sync. My audio control module went out. I bought a refurb off eBay. Bought it from factory radio.com- know several people that have used them with with great success. I relaced the blown one in abor twenty minutes- drove the truck to the local dealership.they worked for about an hour trying to program the unit to the truck and they were unable to get them to communicate. My question is are the units vin locked? Through my research I’m showing they are not. Unless I got a lemon, I’m just curious if the dealership knows what it’s doing. Any help would be appreciated. Btw - I’m getting entertainment unavailable in the left hand corner of the screen.

Thanks

If you use Forscan, there is a good possibility you can get it to work yourself. They are not vin locked. When you swap a module from another vehicle, you need to copy your original configuration to the new one. You can get that using your VIN from Ford. Go to the link below to see how to get it.

Livnitup's instructions to get as-build data

If you don't Forscan yet, now is a good time to start. I've made about 30 changes to my truck. If you live in Charlotte, I'd even do it for you!

Default Communication

It might be worth the drive! The dealership told me but they could not communicate with the new module. I’ve got the 2018 ordered . I’m just trying to get this one working so I can traded in in four weeks. I need to get familiar with forscan.

Did your original ACM have SiriusXM and the replacement does not? My experience is you will get the entertainment unavailable when your APIM (SYNC module) is programmed for Sirius and you have a non-sirius ACM.

Do you still have the ability to do this? I'm Within an hour of you in NC. Would be willing to pay for you to do this to a truck of mine! Let me know!
