Atv in the bed question
From time to time have been hauling my Honda atv in the bed of the crew. Bed length is not an issue. The issue is the way the front bumper of the atv is that if I were to slam on the breaks hard enough it's possible the bumper on the atv could contact the rear glass. Besides wedging an old tire between the atv and the cab anybody have similar issues and use a better method?
I was just about to say "use an old tire"
You could make some blocks to go between the front tires and the front of the bed. I've used concrete blocks or firewood before. Or some good sized wood beams maybe lay a 10"X10" square beam across the front of the bed.

I used to keep a 50" wide by 10" diameter round log at the front of the bed that would keep the tires far enough back that the wheeler wouldn't hit the front of the bed or the back glass. That and a few ratchet straps kept me from breaking the back glass......again!
Don't know how the front bumper on your Honda is shaped or how it contacts the front of the bed but - here's what I do with my Yamaha Kodiak. I run a ratchet strap through the front rack on the Kodiak and fasten it to the front tiedowns in the bed of the truck, and then cinch it down but not hard. Just enough to keep the quad from bouncing up and over the front of the bed and into the back window. I also run a short ratchet strap from the frame of the Kodiak through the space at the bottom of the tailgate and into the receiver hitch. It's worked very well for me - kept the Kodiak securely in place when I've had to hit the brakes hard due to a washout in the road (mainly dirt roads around here). You can kind of make out what I'm talking about in this photo:
I have a Honda Rancher TRX420 I haul in my 6.5' bed. I just nailed some short sections of 2x10s together and put those vertically against the front of the bed and each front wheel of the ATV. There is also a small board the connects the 2x10 shims that I put in front of each wheel. I also ratchet strap the ATV down by the steel wheels.

I put mine 3 inches from the front of the bed and then strap the footpegs back to cleats. Then I trap the front forward. Never had it hit.
BTW, those ramps are the bees knees. i love mine!
