I have an XLT Sport with the 302a package and 8" touch screen. I really do like the sound and think it sounds ok but needs more low end. I came from a JLAudio stealthbox in my last truck and it was super nice. I did not want to lose any of the functions of the rear seat or the storage space under the seat so I decided to go with the Kicker Hideaway. I saw that it will tuck back behind the rear seat and still allow it to fold up or down. I also think I found a good home for my bass control ****.
I found the thread on installing a sub and it looks like a perfect how-to.
So with the help of the sub how-to, and a few youtube how-to videos on removing the dash parts and since I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, I feel good about this install.
here is the start
since I'm not using the trailer brake
also cannot believe how think thin this sub box is but from what I have seen it sounds good when paired with the factory system. I will let ya know soon......I hope
I'm probably going the same direction with the hideaway in my XLT 302a but I do have the factory brake controller so I'll need somewhere else to put the base ****. I'm pretty impressed with the stock radio but I had one 10" in my last truck and have one 12" in my Mustang so I'm accustom to more bass.
I just installed mine about a month ago, love it! I am used to a 12" so I do miss some of the bass that a normal sub will provide but this does the trick!
I put the Kicker Hideaway in my previous 2015 Lariat on the backside of the rear seat driver's side. Just lowered the seat back down and set it in there. Ran the left side speaker wire up to the speaker wire that goes to the left rear door speaker (positive-white/green, negative- brown/yellow) and the right side under the back seat to the right side along the door frame plastic to where the speaker wire goes the the left door speaker (positive-brown/white, negative- brown/blue). The speaker wires that go to the door speakers are under the plastic molding that goes along the bottom of inside the door. Ran the fused hot wire through the firewall driver's side to the battery and the ground I just attached it to a rear seat bolt. The remote turn on has to have power to it as well, so I just tied it into the hot wire. The amp turns on when the speakers power up.
LR Speaker (+) WHITE/GREEN
LR Speaker (-) BROWN/YELLOW
RR Speaker (+) BROWN/WHITE
RR Speaker (-) BROWN/BLUE

Does anyone know if a XL 17 with sync would have this option available? As the option to turn it on with forscan. I just need to see if the connector is there as well first.
