Approx. % increase of mpg while adding bed cover
If you want to get all technical, why did they switch to an aluminum body? To save weight right? Well, when I put my fibermax cover on it also added weight to the truck. Is the reduced drag enough to offset the additional weight? That is another question as well to throw into the analysis.
A cover does save mpg but it would take a while to have it pay off....
If you are looking to save gas, buy a Hybrid. Whatever MPG gains there are with a cover will take tens of thousands of miles to make any difference.
Buy it for looks, buy it for security, but dont buy it on the myth it will save gas.

I actually gained .25mpg by adding my tonneau cover and subtracting the weight of 7 Benjamin's in my wallet. But then almost immediately lost .5mpg by adding the 75lbs of weight to the top of by truck bed when I installed it.
I could not notice any gain in mileage whatsoever with my SCrew and 5.5' bed. I wanted to believe badly but I just don't live in Egypt.
Maybe a Standard Cab long bed might have a different result. ?????
