So I am getting my 2018 f150 platinum in 3 more weeks and I am ordering parts now. I am definitely going for the bilstein 5100 for rear and the BFG K02. What I'm trying to decide is if I should go 275/60/20 or 275/65/20. My big concern is ride comfort and mpg. Any answers for the below would be helpful.

1) Do I need to lift the truck to go 275/65/20. On here people seem to be saying no but other threads some have said yes. Anyone know for a fact either way? If so, I could go bilsteins front. Any idea on mpg loss for the lift? Also, if I don't need the lift, would you still recommend getting the Bilstein fronts or leave stock?

2) Any idea what kind of mileage hit I would take going from stock 20 to ko2 for the 2 sizes listed above? Would There be a difference between the 275/65 and 275/60?

3) On the 275/65 there is like a 5% difference between shown speed and actual. Did you guys re-calibrate the truck to match this or do you just drive knowing your mileage and speed are actually 5% higher?

4) Considering i will go off road occasionally but never really rock climbing, will my rims be safe enough and ride soft enough with the 275/60 or should i go 275/65?

1a) No.
1b) Figure on 2-3mpg between the tires and the level.
1c) Yes, match the set. If you're going to level it DON'T use spacers.

2) Answered MPG. The 275/65/20 is an LT tire, so you're going to add weight with the LT construction over the 275/60/20 which can be had (not in KO2's, but others) in a passenger tire. IMO, I would get the added sidewall, which will also raise the truck up about an inch.

3) Forscan. No issues, speedo is dead on.

4) It's a half inch in height difference. Meh. The KO2 in either size will ride the same, I bet.

Are you getting new wheels? The Limited comes with 22" wheels.

I would definitely get the 5100s on the front.

I'm pretty sure you can NOT calibrate the speedometer with ForScan.

1. I ran my 275/65R20 with out the lift for about a month, with no issues.

2. I'm only seeing 1MPG or less, loss.

3. Yes, I bought the Superchips Flash unit, worked fine. To my knowledge, you can't use ForScan on the newer trucks to change speed O. Throws codes.

4. 65's look way better, but they are stiffer, since there a 10ply.

1. Will not rub with stock height, but looks much better leveled.

2. I took a 3mpg hit, but I gained it back when I got a tune (highly recommended whenever they are available for an 18)

3. I used my tuner to recalibrate my speedo, again highly recommended

4. I honestly did not notice any difference in ride between the stock 55s and the 65s. I take it on dirt roads often. The suspension is so soft on these things I dont think it makes much of a difference IMO

on a side not, I do NOT recommend going to the highest setting, as it already sits dead level so anything in the bed will make it squat. For example, I am at the 1.25" setting and with a whopping 12 bags of mulch in the bed, I sit about .5" from level. So if I was at 1.75", it would sit level with the "huge" load of mulch, and if I was on the 2.1" setting, I would look ridiculous.

That being said, I will probably be changing my set to the 1.75" setting whenever I get around to it.

I am currently running 285/65R20 KO2s on my 2015 F150 FX4 (2.5" procomp level + 1" rear block). I will be removing the front leveling kit and installing the 5100 all around.

I know 2.1" should clear the 285/65R20 tires but has anybody tried running that tire size on the 1.75" setting? Will it rub? Thanks in advance!
