Anyone regret getting the 3.5 Ecoboost and wish they could trade for a 5.0?

I agree. I picked up my 2015 King Ranch CPO with only 10K miles on it for 48K. It also had leveling kit and new wheels and tires added. If it had been a 5.0 I still would have bought it and I am sure I still would be happy with it.
Unfortunately, my pockets don't run deep enough to order new trucks. So I end up buying one year old rigs with low miles. My last truck had the larger rear end. I even looked under the truck before I bought it, but I didn't know Ford screwed around with the 8.8 diff housing. So it fooled me.

Here's my take. My father has been a Senior Master Ford mechanic since the 60's and just now about to retire from ford. He's personally worked on more cars than anyone I know, so i trust his opinion on anything car related. I originally bought a 2013 SuperCrew lariat Ecoboost new from the stealership because my pops told me that he very rarely have any issues with the ecoboosts and they are very very reliable trucks. Here are my thoughts about this subject:
Issue with Eco:
The only thing he stressed to me was to make sure you keep track on both engine hours and miles because he had been getting higher mileage eco's into the shop with locked up motors due to sludge (aka Cop cars, Taxi's and negligent people). Even though they might change the oil every 5,000 miles, they had an equivalent 20,000 miles on them. Dont forget these are twin turbo vehicles and do dirty oil faster than a N/A motor. The maximum time I waited to change my oil is 5,000 miles and even then I was seeing slight signs of sludge. I didnt have a single problem with mine up until the point i sold it (which it had 140k on it). I loved the motor, loved the power (with tuning), and loved how effortless highway passing was. I would definitely, and probably will, own another eco in the future. As long as you stay on top of your oil changes i'm sure you wont have any major issues.
Recently i sold the 2013 Eco because I bought a Mint (5,000 miles) 2016 Fully Loaded Flame Blue Lariat FX4 Sport with a 5.0. I bought the truck for $25K at auction and couldn't be happier with that price. Truck is literally like brand new.... I even did the first oil change. I bought this truck in order to be my play toy again since I thought i could stand not having my jeep to play with anymore...i was wrong. I also picked up at auction a 2016 Focust ST for $4900 to be my daily, which has allowed me to have my project toy again woohoo!.
Issue with 5.0:
For a few years my pops did say they were having a lot of head troubles with 5.0 but in 2015/2016 they changed them up and he hasnt seen any of the same issues since then. Not taking a look at the mustangs, the 5.0 trucks seemed to not have much issues other than this head issues which has be supposedly resolved. Now for me, since this isn't a big deal since A) i work on my own vehicles and B) if any components break I'll more than likely be replacing it with an upgraded component.
Performance:
Before my eco I was driving a 700hp srt8 jeep around town so it was a bit of a shock when the midrange of the ecoboost (tuned) was surprisingly similar according to the pants dyno. I will say the 5.0 drives very smooth, sounds great, but is a very on/off kind of motor. Where the eco would just chug along the 5.0 needs to downshift and get a lot higher in the rpm range. I knew this buying the vehicle since the truck will not remain "stock" very long. I don't know about the 10 Speeds, but according to my pops it is very rare to have any kinds of issues with the 6-speed transmissions.
Not sure about others, but this is the way I view the two (setting aside price):
Eco: If you're wanting the best of all worlds, with remaining nearly stock then this is for you.
5.0: If you're like me and have the endless itch to have a hobby vehicle...then the 5.0 is for you.

Ill just say this...

There is no comparable truck to the one you posted so yeah.. But before you say anything, yes you found the "faster" truck, good job.
Will also say this...
Raptor
GT
Max Tow
I am a fan of what works for me, drove GM trucks before and if it wasn't for the eco I still would be. I like the turbos.
Love V8's, love the sound but I also love how the eco effortlessly pulls the an 8k lb camper and my 20ft all steel car hauler. It works and does what I need it to do better than the 5.0 would.. again for me. Each individuals needs are different.
**** I went from a Vortec V6 to a LS V8 in my 96 chevy truck!!
In the chevy world we go through this argument every day. We still have the LS engine is better than the 350 engine and the LS engine fanboys are idiots, nothing like ol reliable 350.
Same argument but in the chevy world!!
Just choose what you like.

my 5.0 lugs itself all the way to 1100 rpm and does not downshift at all, around town. Huge torque down low. Ill bet you the 5.0 has more torque then either eb at 11-1200 rpm.

Sure did haha. There's no way in he#$ I'm spending the sticker on this truck ($58.5 k before wheels and tires). Both vehicles are nearly brand-new and manage to get them both ($90
k total) for under $30k. I've always worked on my own cars so that doesn't scare me at all, and I managed to get full coverage on the truck and comprehensive on the car since I had them both inspected at the dealership.

Why do you want to drive at 1100 rpms? Thats my biggest question. Thats less average rpm than a diesel, hell a cummins spends most its time running higher than that. Lower RPM doesn't automatically mean better mpg.
