Anyone regret getting the 3.5 Ecoboost and wish they could trade for a 5.0?

I just came from a V8 truck with a good sounding exhaust. For towing I wanted quiet and the 3.5 works great. It also has gobs of torque for what I tow. Gas mileage is worse than a V8 so far towing but we will see in the spring with more break-in how the truck does. Either way, not a regret at all.

I have heard all negatives from 3.5T owners around here. Mostly they say their trucks do not perform as advertised and do not tow as well as they thought they would.

I have a ‘15 with 3.5 and my brother has a ‘15 5.0 with a 14in magnaflow. I have driven both and absolutely love the sound of his. The power delivery is certainly different but both feel adequate. I have the itch again and with the new 10 speed out I will probably drive all three engines to see what I prefer this go round.

2nd gen 3.5EB.... Power and torque everywhere from 1200rpm to redline..
20mpg in mixed city/hwy driving
My 2015 5.0 torque in the mid range and HP up top... 14mpg while driving it the exact same way.
There is no contest here

I have not read a single person complaining about power and towing from the 3.5 EB. There are a few complaints about towing with the lighter aluminum bodied F150s and that has some merit because the truck is lighter and proper loading is a lot more critical than with a heavier vehicle. That said, the modern F150 with a 3.5 EB, when loaded properly, has more towing capacity than any predecessor.

Only reason I'm in a Ford is because of the ECO.
I was a Chevy guy through and through. LS based engine with one cam is way cheaper to upgrade. The price per HP is no where as high as Ford's dual over head cams.
Now I had 33" tires and leveled on my last chevy, tuned with longtubes. Nothing crazy, no cam and the power was just not there. I really did need a cam or a SC.
Same with the 5.0.. I read people putting 35 or 34" tires and asking, "what can I do to get better take off acceleration or the ever dreaded MPG conversation.
With the ECO I'm running 34" 295/60r20 tires and still get 17.5 MPG. No crazy transmission looking for the right gear to be on going up a small hill, no crazy what feels like WOT like the Chevy etc..
Still tow an 8K camper on occasion (don't own one but rent one) with no problems. I f i want to go 60 or 80, the eco for me works best.

To each their own, but try and find a video of a 5.0 beating either one of the eco's.
At the end of the day no amount of arguing will ever change a persons mind. You can show them all the facts and still we have these type arguments. Its like chevy vs ford.
People like the sound, some people don't care about the sound. I like what works for me! You like what works... well what sounds better.
