Anyone have paint work done on Ruby Red?
Truck goes in Monday for paint missing on my passenger doors from dealer misaligning them so they were binding. ( back edge of front door hitting the front edge of back door ) Not much damage but still pisses me off. Heard that the Ruby Red is super hard to match. Wondering if anyone has had experience with repairing their truck?
I have had the front end repaired on a Ruby Red truck - It all depends on the talents of the painter.
Most paint suppliers acknowledge that Ford Ruby Red is the most difficult paint to match since it involves a tinted clearcoat. The more coats it gets, the more the overall color changes.
Again, depends on the talents of the painter. It can be done, my repair turned out flawless.
If it doesn't meet your expectations, stand your ground. Make them do it over till you get what you want

Like what has been said, depends on the painter. But more importantly(in my opinion) the products used. The greatest painter in the world will have trouble with any color, if the paint manufacturer simply does not have a matching formula.
I paint this color monthly at least. I've never had a problem with it.
Check out this thread I did on it. This was my first go at it with PPG. I used Standox and spies hecker before on it. Was never impressed with them. But the PPG process matches awesome. I painted an escape, and an explorer last week RR. Both came out perfect

Unfortunately i have had to have my truck painted twice. When I bought it it had imperfections in the hood and the hood had to be repainted. Then my passenger front door got scraped up pretty bad and had to be repainted. In both cases the repair has been flawless. I did go through the Ford dealer body shop both times (first time because dealer was taking care of it, second time by choice).
