Default No complaints

I have no complaints except that in not seeing a mpg increase. But I didn't buy it for that.

the convert keeps the rain out.

AS for country farm road dust, it does pretty good.. Very minimal dust at the tailgate corners only.

My biggest complaint has nothing to do with the Extang cover: country road dust sucks into the bed between the bed floor and all four sides including thetailgate.... But that is the truck, not the Extang cover

I'm a bit out of touch with where to source some aluminum stock. I don't have any scrap or recycle yards nearby. Just big box stores like Menards and Lowes. Can someone point me in the right direction to go shopping?

Pretty sure I got mine at Lowes they have a real small C Channel aluminum pieces.

It also helps with the bed caps so they align a little better and the clip does not bend the plastic so much.

Just purchased mine for my truck. So far it is perfect. A little light coming in from corners near cab. Extang is sending me some weather strip to remedy. Taking it to NC in a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs.

Those places definitely have C channel around here, I've bought it there, too. Also, Home Depot. Check the dowel section, usually near the mailboxes. (why do those go together?)

Does anybody drive with the last part folded up (but laid down)? That is, lets say you want to pickup some 8', 2x4's. Can you leave your tailgate up, lift the 3rd portion (closest to the tailgate), slide the 2x4's in, and then lay the 3rd portion down (on top of the 2x4's), and drive like this?

I've done this in the past without issue, but pictures in this thread show a warning tag that says not to drive with any of the pieces up.

Thoughts?

That's contrary to the design, the cover is designed to be used two ways - all the way covered or all the way stacked up by the cab and strapped. I imagine it would bounce up and down over bumps that way unless you used something else to secure it.

I do this all the time with no issues. I have material sticking out with the tailgate closed and then just lay the cover over it.

Default My experience so far

Got some rain here. Mine leaked some at the fold at the wheel wells. I purchased some auto/marine grade weather stripping and ran it along the whole bed rail cap. It seems to have solved it. I am still happy with the cover. I tightened the front T clamp too much and actually bent the bolt some but Extang sent new one immediatly. I installed the weather stripping I had them send me along the bed rail near the cab because it is slightly offset from the rest of the bed. It has been a great addition. I bought a simple battery Access LED 18" and it works great. I couldn't see a thing in there at night.

Anyone have close up pics of their aluminum under rail reinforcement they may have added where the front clamps tighten down?

Can't believe I'm still undecided on a bed cover after 4 months of researching.
