I never looked that carefully, and its hard to get an accurate reading without an extra set of hands here, but i just went out into the garage, and held a level over the antenna, and the 27" does stick up above the fin, just ball parking, 3"-4"? so that jives with your findings too!

picture is kind of useless because it can look a hundred different ways based on perspective its taken.
In my last truck i cut the antenna down, and my radio reception did suffer. Since changing out this one, my reception has been the same as stock, and way better than my last truck.

The other way I considered if I thought the 27 would be marginal (I ordered it seeing I'm safe by 3+ inches) would be to park the fin under the door opening, measure down to the fin, and then back up to do the same with the antenna. You could use that I-beam above your truck.

I've been using this antenna
AntennaMastsRus - The Original 6 3/4 Inch is Compatible with Ford F-150 (2009-2020) - Car Wash Proof Short Rubber Antenna - Internal Copper Coil - Premium Reception - German Engineered AntennaMastsRus - The Original 6 3/4 Inch is Compatible with Ford F-150 (2009-2020) - Car Wash Proof Short Rubber Antenna - Internal Copper Coil - Premium Reception - German Engineered
haven't had any reception issues at all and it has survived a handful of Mike's Car washes.

Amazon Amazon

ordered this a while ago, 17" rubber antenna. I prefer it over the OEM one and the "stubby" ones people seem to like.
Seemed to be just as good or maybe slightly better for reception as oem.

The wifi and Sirius satellite antennas are in the Shark Fin antenna casing. AM/FM radio signals are received with whip antenna.

I put the 27 incher on today and checked with a level. As expected it's still 3+ inches above the shark fin but a full 5" shorter than stock. I like the stock look and do still use the radio now and then. I am not a big fan of the shorty antenna look (maybe if I had the 5.5 ft box...I kid, I kid)
