Another transmission thread
As if this hasn’t been beaten to death around here, 2018 10R80 2.7L just shy of 108000km
Highway driving, cruise set at 110km/h, hit an incline and the drop from 10 to 7 was quite harsh, truck resumed shifting up and wouldn’t go pass 9th. I’d throttle the pedal a bit sit if i could engage it back to 10 but no luck. Kept going at my speed and hit another decent incline, truck wasn’t shifting out of 9, went a bit more agressive on the throttle, transmission then went all wacky jumping between 9 to 5, 10 to 1, plenty of harsh bangs could be heard, it was horrible, even as it would shift up, the rpm would flare up. Wrench icon came on and ford pass app told me “power train malfunction/reduced power”
as soon as I got to the next town I stopped in and turned truck off. Took a look under truck, didn’t see anything abnormal. Started it back up and hit the road again, wrench went away and truck shifted normally. Now it’s been couple days and the shift between gears is just not smooth, it really never was but now it’s worse. I took it to our company fleet mechanic, he plugged his scanner and there was a dtc something about friction plate?!? I’m afraid ford will charge thousands to fix this, I’m really hating this transmission and I’m not alone by what I read online but are we just biting the cost and getting what needs doing done? I find it pathetic that at a relatively young age and mileage it’s this problematic. I had PCM updated at my dime and never noticed a difference.

The trans has a fault as reported by the code while you were driving.
Sorry you have a fault at 67000 US miles, but some have bad luck.
Deal with it or let the truck set instead of just whining.
Would you do the same if a tire blew out or brakes needed attention?
Bottom line is your being unreasonable about one 'machine' out of many thousands that has developed a trouble.
Everything off the assembly line is not perfect all the time.
My 2018 is at the same mileage but I have not had many issues.
It's called good luck.
If I have an issue, it will be addressed.
I have already needed front brake Pads and Discs due to a Caliper sticking and now ready for tires.
Sorry to tell it like it is.
Good luck.
