Default Another Quick Tire Thread

Hey all,

I have a 2016 F150 Screw 4x4 with what I think are 18" 7.5 stock polished wheels. I know there are a lot of threads about tire sizes, but I'm honestly kind of lost. I'm looking to keep the suspension 100% stock (maybe a leveling kit in the future).

What is the biggest/best off-roading tire I could use and have no cutting/trimming, rubbing, or issues going over bumps hills etc? I keep reading about offset too (in order to ensure speedo reads the same). Tbh I'm overwhelmed/confused, and I would like to make sure I get the proper tires etc without having issues on the speedometer.

If you don't want any issues with speedo or anything else, just get another set of stock size but more aggressive. My truck was less than a week old and I put stock size Toyo ATII's on.

Level it and you can stick a 295/70-18 on it
You can easily put a 275/70-18 on it but it won't really look any bigger than stock.

Honest question. When you say "best" off road tire. What do you mean by best? There are tons of options out there, but most are purchased based on looks. If you really want the best for off road, it would help to know intended use. My favorite for general purpose to include mud is the goodyear MTR.

apologies as I should have clarified. I guess it’s subjective and doesn’t necessarily have to be the “best” I just want to make sure that if they’re ever in need of use they’ll perform well. I don’t do a lot of off-roading, but every now and then the back roads get very muddy where I’m from. I may also start exploring new places since I have 4x4. All in all just want to make sure I purchase a decent set of tires for price being spent.

From a guy who went through four sets of MTRs on my last truck... Unless you are needing it, the added performance off road from a serious off road tire will not make it worth losing the on road performance. I suggest getting a high quality AT tire with road leanings. With the exception of mud, the biggest performance gain you can have off road is by airing down. A properly aired down AT tire will kick the crap out of any aggressive off road tire not aired down. Once again, mud being the exception. Also suggest some of the valve stem caps that will automatically air down to a preset pressure and a high quality air compressor.
EDIT: A decent set of AT tires will give significant improvement in mud. Mud tires are best, but you'll need to be willing to spin them up to get the benefits. Overall, even with some mud I'd go AT.
