I just had a very HAPPY thought.....Since joining here in Oct. '16,, I have read many, many threads of mucho problems other members have had, engines blown, transmission troubles, running gear, transfer cases, door locks, etc., etc. I, however, have not had one bobble with my beautiful truck, rides, runs, drives GREAT. Very comfortable and quiet and really good mpg for a 5.0---- I am one of the members with the least problems on this site, and have a fine dealer--if ever needed. If this is the worst problem I ever have with my truck--- I am WAY ahead of the game.

Thats great to hear! I haven't had problems either, even since buying a high mileage rig. Just gotta stay ahead of the maintenance.

Naturally you're going to read about a ton of problems on here. That's what this forum is for. But the number of problems on here is a drop in a very large bucket compared to the absolutely massive number of trucks Ford produces that have zero problems.

Actually, apple cider vinegar with a drop of dish soap in a glass covered with saran wrap with a couple holes in it does amazing at catching fruit flies. My jar of sugar beside it, catches very little.

Why didn't you call the guy from BAK that nethinim recommended? It sounded like that guy wanted to make things right. Probably wouldn't of cost you anything.

I think that things are working out,,, thanks to member ''pjband''. ---------------This thread has forced me to come to grips with my denial, so things are not a total loss here,,,,,, I had to go to town today, the box still in the bed of the truck,,, and severe storms forecast this afternoon. I tried to set the box out of the truck---- could not handle it. I finally took the plastic wrapped folding panels out, and managed to finally prop them on the carport wall,,, then removed the box. I get that some younger members suspect that I was being contrary and sandbagging--- appears I was not.....If they get to my age,,, they will have to learn their limitations-- same as I have....and learn to accept them.. Sucks,, but,, that is reality.

I can relate to your situation. Items that we have delt with in previous years seem to have gotten heavier. Maybe Gravity is getting out of adjustment?

I'm not quite at your age, but I am getting there and am busted up from decades in SAR.

A few years ago I realized I couldn't just pick up a 302 engine block and walk around the garage anymore. At least not without a supreme effort and days of pain afterwards.

I bought an engine crane and now use it for everything from moving my metal lathe around to taking the cap off the bed of the truck. Looks like this:

It was something like 300 bucks and it's a lifesaver. Lets me still get things done in the garage on my own.

Maybe you could consider getting something like that to regain some independence with heavy objects?

Was worth every penny for me.

Tell me about it!

Pride is a hard thing to overcome when your wife has to shovel the snow off the steps because you can't anymore. Power drive/steering snowblower lets me do the driveway, but she still has to shovel for me. Even then, she's found me face down on the ground behind a running snowblower a couple times this winter. I refuse to sit there and do nothing while she shovels though...

Not to mention my med list to just be able to move seems to grow longer every few months now...not to mention Lantus, ramipril, HTZ, pain killers galore (coudl probably fund my retirement just on what's in my medicine cabinet!), anti-inflammatory, getting up to pee every couple hours, not being able to walk at sporadic times, the walker on "standby" in my closet, not being able to put my own socks on, hearing loss, tinnitus, blown out knees, shoulder, back, etc, etc, etc.....

Wouldn't trade my time in SAR for anything, but being old and busted now sure sucks....lots of "adapting" to be done....
