Default Android maps sound

How do I get my 2018 Sync 3 (small screen) Google maps sound to come over the radio? Phone & text works fine. Android phone. Also for Google maps sound to work from the phone I have to turn off bluetooth, which means no hands free phone. Their must be a better way this works.
Thanks

You need to set the audio source on the radio go bluetooth too. Your phone is playing the Google Maps directions via bluetooth.

Is that a separate setting than phone sound (calls voice text)? Because that works over Bluetooth.

I too have an 18 with and android phone. In my experience, the navigation prompts will come over the speakers, regardless of the input source. It doesn't matter for me if I'm using Android audio or just connected by Bluetooth. So i could be listening to fm radio, and the navigation prompts will interrupt the radio.

That's when everything works... I've had it break after app updates / os updates. Check out that option "Play voice over Bluetooth" in navigation settings that others have said. I recall a time where I couldn't get it to work at all and was so frustrated. I read on some fourm to try enabling that option, which seemed like the exact opposite of what I wanted. I tried it anyway, and to my surprise, everything worked perfectly. I can't explain that. I hate these updates that sometimes break a perfectly working system, and introduce bugs.

The play voice over Bluetooth was on. I did de select it. At least now I can leave Bluetooth on so the phone and text works. I did see a louder sound setting which I chose, so that should help using phone speakers. Maybe it's phone brand issue (Moto G). I'm getting a new Pixel so that phone may work.
Thanks anyway.
