Default Android auto problems

Benn trying to connect Android auto to my new to me 2016 f150. I've upgraded to sync 3 version 3.0
But an icon comes up with a spinning wheel and says something like checking phone or something like that. I am running 8.0 on my Moto phone.
I've changed cords, and dumped and reloaded Android auto, and restarted my phone but still no luck.

HELP!!!! Before I do something rash.

Does the bottom row on your Sync3 display add an Android Auto icon when you hook up the charging cable? That would be the first sign that the car recognized that an Android device was connected.

Next, I would try going into Sync3 Settings. Once an Android phone has connected a new Setting appears for Android Auto on the second page. Maybe you can finalize the connection in there.

Just throwing some stuff out there to see what sticks.

Don't recall the exact procedure. There are several settings which have to be enabled in the sync settings and also I had to plug into the usb port with a cable before it would completely install. I have a moto z3 with android 9 fyi.

Are you not getting any prompt on the phone to allow access to Ford or something like that?

Also, just to make sure, sync up your phone and Sync3 over bluetooth as well. I'm not sure this really does anything, but it's the way I do it in my truck as well.

Default Got it going!!!?

Tried one more time, I was seeing the AA icon come up on the truck screen, so I just kept trying different things restarting phone, uninstalling the AA app anre installing it, answering all the questions while the phone was still plugged in and all of a sudden the AA screen and the mapping changed, and checked the music section it recognized you tube tuned, started playing some ACDC!
Thanks to all the help on here I will be back for more I'm sure.

Thanks
Carl
