Default Android Auto - No app in Sync 3??

I just took delivery of my 2018 F150 and am trying to setup Android Auto. The video says theirs an Android Auto app in Sync 3's setup menu. I can't find anything related to Android Auto. My Sync 3 unit does not have built in NAV. Do you need a Sync 3 with native GPS to use Android Auto??

I'm confused??? Where the heck in Sync 3 is Android Auto. (it's already on my phone)

TIA

You have to install android auto on your phone then open it to do setup. Then plug in your phone to the usb ports in your truck and it will open AA on truck. AA does not have to be running when you connect it to your truck.

Thanks.
I've paired the phone to the Sync 3
I open Android Auto app on my phone and plug in the USB cable.
However I can't figure out how to make the phones Map screen appear on Sync 3.
If I hit the Add Apps screen on Sync 3 it says no apps found.

For the life of me I can't seem to bring it up on Sync 3. I'm probably missing something obvious.

Sounds like they didn't pair right, or it's broke. I plugged my phone in 1st, then phone and sync made me install and accept crud then an Android auto icon shows up.
read the manual it should have step by step.. if that doesn't work, try another phone or let the dealer fix it

You must allow all of the permissions prompts that come up on screen. Once that's done, don't open the app before plugging it in. Andoid auto should be enabled in sync 3 settings screen. It won't show up under the apps section as that's where things like Pandora and anything using AppLink strictly over Bluetooth will be.

Start over by removing the phone from devices, plug it in, say yes to everything that comes up on either screen. It should add it as a device and allow all permissions.

You may need to do all that again if you upgrade to Sync 3 v3.0. Also a worthwhile update (Google maps and Waze).

Great that you got it working!
