Default Android Auto Navigation by passenger

I don't have navigation built in but I often use Android Auto with offline maps. I would like to be able to have the passenger make navigation changes or searches but it is disabled unless my truck is stopped.
Are there any forscan mods or other methods to enable this?
I don't know if this lockout is part of forscan/sync3 or part of Android Auto. I have been in other vehicles that gave an option at startup to enable passenger operation of the navigation. They may have even required the passenger-present seat sensor be activated.
I know that voice commands are possible but in my area the cell coverage is very poor and Android Auto seems to require good internet data access to interpret verbal commands.

You have to either have to minimize maps and enter the search in google or the google search bar widget on your screen if you have that and hit "directions" so it'll automatically jump to maps, or disconnect AA and enter the destination in maps then reconnect. Also it may be possible if it won't let you add or change anything while moving to just cancel current route and I think it'll let you enter a new destination while moving. I think the lock out may be changing a current route while moving, not starting one.

Thanks. I'll see if my passenger (wife) can try those things next time we're out.
