Default AMS Intercooler

I’ve finally saved up enough to start adding “performance” parts to my truck. Plan on down pipes, turbo adapter, split exit exhaust (for aesthetics), and a tune. Before I do this though, I plan on adding an intercooler. I was thinking the AMS one and I was just curious what the consensus was on this guy or others. Also, should I add a t-stat as well, what I mentioned above is probably where I’ll stop with the add ons. Thanks.

Pick a tuner first, and coordinate with them. In my case, MPT has been great to work with in terms of supporting mods. Wagner and Full Race IC's are great.

The t-stat will be likely required with the tune if you go for one of the max performance 93 octane tunes.

CVF Intercoolers are the best priced and just as good quality wise as the rest of them.

I've had Wagner, AMS and Mishimoto and AMS is hands down the best for fit, ease of install and performance. I like how AMS has integrated much of the factory BOV into their design, but that it a downside if you wanted an aftermarket BOV. If you have the money for the AMS, I highly recommend it. Lower temp thermostat seems to be a somewhat popular mod, but can cause additional engine wear from the lower engine operating temp.

I almost did the AMS. Only didn’t was because I bought quite a few other things for the truck and major home remodels going on. I bought the CVF (cheaper, but also smaller) and installed It this week, but don’t really have any data on it. The AMS is a bit bigger and good quality. If your only doing that and maybe a tuner, I’d go with the AMS.

An IC upgrade has very little value on it's own, I'd suggest starting elsewhere.
