Just saw this article, wondering how it impacts the deal between Alcoa and Ford...

Alcoa plant about 20 miles from me just announced it's smelter (the oldest continuous running one in the USA) is shutting down by years end, bye bye 487 jobs! So what kind of cheating is China doing to be accounting for 55% of the production according to that article?

Alcoa in Alcoa, TN is expanding. Ford has been a Godsend to the local community for so many years. Now we're so happy that Ford had the courage and foresight to make the switch. Trust me, Chebby and Ram are behind the curve with the aluminum. Ford is having some growing pains through the transition, but that means they'll be so far ahead when Government Motors finally jumps in.

That sucks. I'm sure China is being super safe with it's workers though. Hopefully they can find a way to come back from that loss and be better than ever.

Lots and lots of aluminium smelters in Quebec, as the government gives them cheap electricity for smelting. Alcan. Rio tinto. Reynolds. Pichney. Al co of America. Ect. Don't know what percentage of worlds aluminium is made here. But it's quiet a bit. No shortage of aluminium
