Default Alarm system

I was wondering what a good alarm system would be for a new 2016. I checked into the OEM alarms and unless you want to pay the $1200 for their upgraded alarm that wants a $50/year gps subscription fee, their basic $300 model is pretty featureless.

Are there any aftermarket alarms that can integrate well with the built in Ford anti-theft system? Will you still need your OEM key fob with the aftermarket (keep in mind I am getting standard chipped keys that will not be part of the new flip-out fob)? I do not want to walk around with two bulky key fobs if that is the case.

Basically, I am looking for something that will auto-arm the alarm after x- number of seconds and I would like an alarm that does not have that loud annoying chirp every time you arm or disarm it. Some OEM alarms for other Mfg have a softer beeping or chimes. Just wondering if any aftermarket types do that?

Where did you see that it was $300? If you are going for a basic alarm, I paid $160 for the shock sensor / alarm module that plugs right in under the dash and requires no extra key fobs. It honks instead of chirps. For what it does, it works very well for the price, and I have the sensitivity set to high. It honks once when someone with loud pipes or music drives by.

If you want the auto start and remote locking, that's where you would spend the $50/year after paying $300+ for the parts. Is that the route you wanted to go?

Does the factory alarm in the Lariat have a shock sensor?

I have a Viper, it was around 200 installed at best buy. It does have the chirp but its a good alarm with a shock sensor.

$300 is installed by the dealer. I understand there is some type of having to reset some system so it will recognize the new components so I would probably just let the dealer do it. The GPS subscription only is needed with the $1200 (again dealer installed) system. I am not interested in the OEM system at all. You could pay the same money for an aftermarket system and get extended range and more features. And I am not interested in auto-start or remote locking, though I already have the key fob to lock it remotely. The main feature I am looking for is Auto-arm. Like after you wlk away from your vehicle for a minute, it arms itself and locks the doors. Ford OEM does not auto-arm the alarm.

^X2 have this alarm and it's really all I would ever want. Plus works perfect with the rest of the truck. I'm pretty sure most other aftermarket alarms don't work with the keypad on the door so keep in mind of you go aftermarket you will lose that feature

No resetting at all. One of the easiest mods to install on this truck. Dont pay the dealer to do 5-10mins of work. You unplug the OBDII, plug the alarm in, mount it with double sided tape (you provide), and turn the ignition on. Alarm arms 20-30 seconds after you close and lock the door, even with the windows down. You can have one door open, lock the other doors, and the alarm will disregard the door that is open, but not the ones that are closed. PLEASE NOTE - Im not trying to sell you on the alarm, just pointing out some things (I dont work for ford).

Instructions to install the alarm and remote access is here:

As Baxzilla said, you might lose function of other features of the truck when you go aftermarket. Good luck finding an aftermarket solution that fits your needs, and please share if you do.
