Default Alarm ??

Is there a way of leaving my truck unlocked yet still having the alarm active?

So here's the issue. Where I work, we have had a few vehicle break-ins. I typically leave my truck unlocked as I don't leave any valuables inside. It's better than having a window broken. I want to have the horn activate if anybody opens the door. Is this possible?

Are you serious?

Do you leave your house unlocked too?

I know people who do the same thing. A thief either breaks a window and finds nothing to steal, or opens the door and finds nothing to steal. My neighbors never lock their cars for this purpose.

There is a new home builder here who doesn't lock their houses until the appliances go in. They found it's cheaper to let thieves take things from time to time than to repair the damage from break-ins.

I haven't tried it, but the only thing I could think of would be to lock and arm the truck from the outside, then use the physical key to unlock, but not open, the door.

No, unless you find some other 3rd party device in your truck. The alarm is only active when the truck is locked. I guess you could leave the windows down, but being in Florida that's asking for the rain..

There is nothing in my truck to steal. I would rather they just open the door and see there isn't anything there than have a broken window.

X2 on locking the truck, then unlocking only the driver door with the physical key.
