Default Air Conditioner question

Hi everyone. Ive got a 2018 XLT SC 2wd with 63K miles. The AC system has never beed touched. I put a thermometer on the vent last summer when it was 110 here in texas and it was showing 42 at the vent. the other day it was in the low 70's here and it got down to 39 at the vent. does this sound normal?. The system was set on max AC when I took these readings.

If you are getting those results, I am envious!

Yeah, I kinda thought so. Just now it was reading 39/40 and it’s 70 ish outside. That’s driving less than 3 miles with it on. I was going to have a health check done on it for the summer but I really don’t want anyone touching it. I have trust issues 😁

If it’s not broke don’t fix it! I wouldn’t have anybody look at it, it’s working.

This generation F150 has good air conditioning. Hottest place I've been was 117 and sunny last summer down by Big Bend and the cab was quite comfortable.

The "manual" system on the XLT is really a semi auto system. Even on full cold or max a/c, if the outside temp isn't that hot the temperature won't get as cold as it's capable of. I think this is to be more fuel efficient by running the compressor only as much as needed. A wiring diagram shows that the interior and exterior temperature sensors are monitored by the HVAC module even in the manual systems. My truck is the same, on a mild day it may get down to 40-45. But on a 90-100 degree day I'll usually get down to 35-37. Never had to deal with 110.
