X2 - plus you will not be able to access the ford servers even if you get LTE service on the module, since your truck did not come enabled for the service. Your VIN is not setup with Ford, that would be a major road block. You will need to the remote access kit or the new smart link to retro the setup.

Ok sorry, didn’t know it came on XLTs too. I already have remote access but it doesn’t work anymore due to iOS 11.

But if I got all the parts, couldn’t I theoretically call Ford with my info to activate?

Question

There is a device called a MOBLEY that plugs into your obdii port and gives 4GLTE instant wifi.(AT&T)

Samsung came out with a device similar that connected to a car's computer and gave vehicle diagnostics.

Wonder is the 'Smartlink" was combination of both??

Wasn't ONSTAR in GM vehicles the first to have all that integrated? After onstar went to the "unlimited data plan" in the car for $20, so did the MOBLEY obdii device.

A new version of the remote access app is being released. IOS 11 is still in beta. So hopefully when it releases, the new app is released.

I doubt you could find anybody from Ford to help you. Most likely they would need to add the service to your VIN.

If you want a rundown of everything just go here.

http://delphiconnect.com/

That's the system Ford is releasing for vehicles without Sync Connect/MyFord Mobile that want to add it aftermarket. That's the app, what it will look like (aside from any cosmetic tweaks to make it more Ford specific), etc.

I’m not holding my breath. They have stopped answering emails about it and they have 7 days to release it.

I’ll definitely be asking for a credit if they don’t.

Exclamation

Appears to be discontined if purchased thru Verizon!

I'm in the same boat. Really like the remote access. Since it's not Ford directly doing the development, I'm hoping something gets released in our lifetime.
