adding sync connect

adding sync connect
so I think I found the as built and part number for the lte modem and was wondering if there was some one with a 17 with sync connect that could verify it for me. If I have it right it starts 754-01-01 -> 754-03-08. the part number that comes up next to this in as built explorer comes up as control assy- mobile phone. and I just want to confirm part numbers and as built before I buy it. I get hj5t-14g087-uf. fordparts.com then gives me 14g229 as most applicable part

Here's the TCU module for a 2017 XLT with Sync Connect. I don't think it will work. You probably need the Smart Link

I've went down this path before, but pretty much let it go. I was worried that if I got all the parts, and the truck recognized it, I'd have problems activating it. They tie that to the VIN of the vehicle and since I have a 2015 with a retrofit sync 3, it would probably be a headache. Didn't want to drop all the money for nothing. I ordered the smart link from my dealer instead, so we'll see what happens when that arrives.

Has anyone tried activating a non connect VIN in the ford connect app? You would have to provide your own plan, https://hologram.io/ would do nicely. But I wonder if the app will only accept VINs in a database or any VIN it can communicate with.
