Thumbs up Adding sub to 2017 XLT

Howdy y'all,

I have a plan, just wanted to see what y'all thought of the viability of it. I have a 2017 Ford F150 XLT Sport with no factory sub, I want to set up the Kicker 10 with mono amp that i had from a previous vehicle. I have all the cables required for how i want to set it up. Based on seeing some of the other posts on here, i think was i want to do is run my amp cable through the firewall, and use the rear passenger door speaker to provide my audio signal. I do not want to use the WPT1212 plug, as i do not have access to FORScan and have seen mixed results from using that plug. I also dont want to use the sub all the time, so instead of using it on the typical remote on wire, i think i will install a manual switch to turn on and off the amp. This wire i want to power using the amp power positive through the firewall, and just install a switch in the wire in between the amp power + cable and the remote wire input itself. I hope this makes sense. How well do y'all think this will work? thanks!!!

Kicker makes and sells a wired remote control for their sub amps that is easy to install and will let you vary the amount of sub for each song.

Will your amp accept high level speaker inputs without issue?

If you ever forget to switch off your amp it will continue to draw some amount of power while the truck is turned off. Probably better to take an ignition-switched 12V source for your turn-on wire.

There is overwhelming advice on this forum to not use the rear speaker connections. People have insisted there is factory low frequency roll-off that would affect the signal to the sub.

"I'm running two 10" subs with a 2 1600 watt amps from the rear speaker wires. I just added a speaker-to-RCA converter, and there are no issues at all with the connections — I did everything you mentioned you wanted to do. also i upgraded all my door speakers and twiters
