Default Adding Shock Sensor, cell notification, remote start to 2020 STX

Edited...

Objectives:
  1. I want to add shock sensor capability to the Ford Perimeter Alarm.
  2. I want to receive alarm notifications to iPhone.
  3. Although my truck has remote start via FordPass on my iPhone, I want to add remote start via the existing OEM key fob.
Preliminary Findings:
  1. Ford Perimeter Plus - A PnP addon module with shock sensors, optional LED light, and remote start feature. Available from Ford Accessories and Amazon. Alarm notification to cell phone comes through the FordPass app.
  2. Aftermarket Products - Linkr and Directed Electronics - Model 504k. These products reportedly integrate with the Ford Perimeter Alarm, providing additional features, such as: shock sensor capability, remote start and cell phone alarm notification.
  3. Notable differences -
  • Alarm notifications through FordPass are default app banner and chimes. It could be possible to not immediately notice the default chime or banner displayed on your cell phone.
  • Notifications through Linkr comes as push/text message notifications. You can set the text notification sound to a more aggressive “alert/alarm” tone for this contact, providing unmistakable awareness that the alarm has been activated.

If anyone out there is using Ford Perimeter Plus, Linkr, Directed Electronics, or something similar... I would be interested in your experiences.

Thank you.

For those who may be interested... with a fresher set of eyes and some Google searches... I came up with additional information:

Thread on Ford Perimeter Plus (47 pages)

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/ford-...r-plus-434662/

Key Takeaways:
  1. Mixed results on shock sensor sensitivity, which is adjustable.
  2. For visual alarm awareness, order the optional LED kit. The LED wires have a plug that connects directly into the Perimeter Plus module.
  3. The Ford LED reportedly is not very bright. Some snipped off the Ford LED and soldered in a much brighter Amazon LED.
  4. DIY installation... Forscan required to activate remote start if your truck does not already have remote start option. Alternatively, you can opt for dealer installation and setup.

Here is a link to a 2019 article featuring a video demonstration by Tony Diaz of a 2019 F-150 STX with an (aftermarket?) shock sensor connected to the OEM alarm, combined with a Linkr cellular module. The video shows the Linkr sending out a notification to the owner’s cell phone... reportedly with GPS coordinates of the trucks location, that can be pulled up on Google Maps.

Here is two more videos from Tony Diaz in Miami, where he demonstrates the push alerts sent to your phone (with unique alert tone) using a Linkr LT2 cellular module, connected to the Ford OEM alarm.

The investigation continues...

I have the perimeter plus on my 19
why use aftermarket when the PP plugs right in, 10 minute job to install.
Yes it sends alerts to FordPass
Yes it will go off if someone jacks up the truck, mine goes off it I climb in the bed of the truck.

Perfect!!! If alarm notifications come to the cell phone through FordPass, Perimeter Plus should be one and done! This is what I was looking for. Thanks for the clarification!

I completely revamped posts 1 and 2, providing a bit more clarity of purpose, along with additional information.

Thanks to @ongrade for providing clarity on how the Ford Perimeter Plus System works.

If anyone has more information on Linkr or Directed Electronics cellular modules integrate with the OEM alarm, feel free to chime in.

EDIT: Another thread I found concerning adding cellular notification to a Lariat...

Thanks!

Epilogue:

Ford Perimeter Plus w/LED light option was added to my truck. Ford’s dim LED bulb was cut and replaced with a bright blue flush mounted bulb, obtained from Amazon.

Gains:

Shock sensor protection
Remote Start added (OEM key fob)
Alarm notifications to phone via FordPass

I am very happy with the results.

Again, thanks to @ongrade for steering me in the right direction.

Default My fob got hacked?

Informative thread. I need some better security ASAP! Was thinking of starting a thread. Someone got into my 2020 f150 xlt and an older Subaru parked side by side in my driveway. No sighn of forced entry. None of my expensive tools where taken from the screw back seat...only glove box and center console ransacked. And then they left them both locked. Like WTH!!!

I didn't know the 2020's had issues with fob hacking or however they got in...and why.

@BushMonster That is weird...

Still very happy with my (mostly) OEM setup. I recommend adding the optional LED light kit to Perimeter Plus. I figure if they see a bright flashing LED on the dash panel, they may just pass it by and move on to another vehicle.

All the best...

They probably didn't hack your F150 fob (possible, but that takes a pretty sophisticated thief). There are threads on here about how easy it is to get in through the driver side door by pulling the door handle out to access the key tumbler and then turning that with pliers, all while leaving little to no marks and for some reason also not setting off the alarm.
