Has anyone investigated adding the power up and down function to our existing trucks? Just wondering if the motors and components can be added to our existing tailgate.

Maybe do a search for threads in the last month or so with tailgate as a keyword.

I THINK it was asked and determined the system is entirely different and not something that could be easily retrofitted to these models. It may have been a different feature but it sounds familiar.

 

I have only done the assisted down. It's a hydraulic piston that's about $20. If your looking for an electronic up and down I would go with a ford oem part. May want to buy a new tailgate just to make it straight plug and play. Hope this helps.
