I recently uograding my 15 XLT from Sync1 to Sync3, and decided I want to add the factory backup camera. I used FORScan and changed some settings in the APIM and i still only have a black screen when in reverse. Has anyone added an OEM camera after the fact? What am I missing?

**All parts were used from a salvage vehicle, and all parts came from the same vehicle**

 

If there screen is going black when you shift into reverse, the settings you changed worked. Are you sure the camera is getting power?

I added a reverse camera to my 2017 which had Sync3. When I went into reverse the screen went black. After a lot of trouble shooting, I cut off the butt connectors which came in the kit to supply power to the camera and just twisted the wires together and it came on just as it should when I shifted into reverse. I put new connectors on and its been fine since.

I also updated to Sync3.4 and the camera still works.

 

Thanks for the response. I will look into that. The harness plugged directly in to my factory harness. I will test that connection first, and may have to go the same route you did.
