or disconnect battery?

Edit: Just checked. My SYNC is V3.4 Build 21194, Gracenotes V1.1.1.2323 (NA-0020), and Nav is NA 2 20.
You will need a tool to slide in the sides of the usb hub to release the clip. A trim tool or a thin rigid plastic piece will work. Be careful swapping the connectors over, there is not a lot of slack to work with.

It should be ready to go once you turn the truck back on.

2916 XLT upgrading from 4" to 8" I noticed on my new APIM that the USB plug is different than old old plug coming from USB port. I'm guessing I have to change that cord. Why 2 different cords?

Generally to aide works on the assembly line, to avoid using the wrong harness or part.

I can't get CarPlay to work anymore. It worked for a while but now that iPhone is on IOS 16, nothing happens. Sync recognizes that there's a phone connected and I see CarPlay but then nothing happens. It times out after about 20 seconds and goes back to the Ford nav. I just updated to Sync 3.4 and it hasn't fixed the issue. I have tried multiple cables and still not working. Clearly Apple and/or Ford broke something.

There is also a huge thread devoted to Sync3 updating which you can look at:

Thank you for the Cyanlabs reference. I used their application and followed this video (
) with zero issues (besides I have to update my USB hub. Went from v1 to v3.4 in less than 10 minutes.

I have to get my information entered, new owner of a 2016 F-150 XLT.

@Joshuae98
I am having the same problem. I’ve updated my 2016 Lariat to v3.4 and got the new correct hub. I am still getting the “This USB device ids not supported. Please Remove.” Were you able to fix this?

My sync 3 is updated to Software Version: 3.0 and I got the Apple CarPlay usb module PN: hc3z-19a387-b that’s what the box said but the actual usb module says PN: hc3t-14f014-be. When I told the dealership that it was a different part number than what was on the box they said it was the same thing one was just the engineering number and the other is the part number. But when I installed the module in my truck a message would pop up saying “This USB device is not supported. Please remove.” But I still could plug my iPhone in and use it but no apple CarPlay. If someone can help me out or lead me in a good Direction on how to get Apple CarPlay to work. Thank you.

You have to update the USB Module in the truck. I got a newer one from Amazon:
Amazon Amazon

Put this in and it worked fine.

Default Wireless CarPlay adapter without updated USB hub

I’ve updated my Sync 3 system to 3.4 on my 2016 f150. However CarPlay won’t work because I don’t have the updated usb hub. My question is does anyone know if the CarPlay wireless adapter will work through the original , or do I still need to get the updated hub to run the adapter? Thanks all

Yes. You need the hub. I swapped mine out 2 years ago and best thing I did. I have had communication problems in past but once I updated to 3.4 with latest build I have not had an issue.

However I have not tried a wireless adapter yet. Been something I am looking at
