Default Added light when backing up

Maybe this was a no brainer but I was fooling around last night and had a thought. what if you folded the mirrors and turned on the spot lights in the mirrors... Works great! One more thing I love about this truck

I kinda like using my mirrors when backing up... In the future, it would be great to be able to aim the spot lamps. I do like my puddle lamps and cargo light on.

Has anyone found a night vision option? My 2011 Ford Edge had a different vision at night. There might be something I am missing or something wrong but I really dislike the rear view camera at night. Thanks.

Love it! I might just fold the driver's side, and leave the passenger deployed to watch that side.

What I wish is for the spot lights to be more useable. As in, come on with unlock, or be able to turn out without the headlights on light the puddle and cargo lights. I'm sure they draw nowhere NEAR what the headlights pull if you leave them on.

My installer added Rigid back up lights. They are flush with the bumper and can be used with the truck running, turned off or come on when the truck is put in reverse. They are quite bright.

Mind sharing some more details on that? I installed a pair of lights under my bumper on the last truck, but they rusted off. So cutting into a brand new bumper concerns me. Not to mention all the lights I've ever tried cracked, corroded, or rusted through. It would be nice if those lasted a few years, were water tight, and would not rust.

I really was not a fan of the led reverse lights so I added these led flush mount cree lights this past weekend. great addition and not that difficult to install. These are Rough Country and have a 3 year warranty. Mine are wired through the trailer hitch and only come on when I back up. I did not want to wire them to the battery and have a button I had to push.

Does the truck think you have a trailer hooked up with them wired that way?

And I assume those require a hole drilled/cut into the bumper? Any prep to keep the exposed metal from rusting?

No issues with truck thinking trailer is attached as the wires for the lights are connected prior to the actual trailer hitch connection if you know what I mean. Also, yes I did have to cut a 3x3 hole in the bumper and was really nervous about doing so but got over quickly. The lip on the flush mount cree lights has at least a quarter inch or better of coverage so you dont have to exact but I wanted to be so I didnt have any issues. I watched a you tube video on install and taped off my exact line. These lights also come with a template to trace which I did. Then took grinder with cutting blade and cut hole then took a hack saw to minor the corners. I could not be more pleased with the outcome.

This is what I had installed.

There is a "three" position switch mounted on the dashboard. The lights can be on without the truck being turn on (great for loading my band equipment), turned completely off or on only in reverse. I typically just leave it in that position. They are brighter than I was told by the installer that he went through several cutting blades while going through the bumper. It was all taped off, the edges were primed and painted before the lights were installed. I believe the wiriging runs up along the frame. I don't have any wires attached to the trailer hitch wiring as that seems to give the F-150 fits thinking there is a a trailer actually attached. The lights look factory - which is how I wanted them to look.
