Have 2018 STX without speaker in dash tray area. It has the connector for a speaker plugged into a blank plug on the bottom of the plastic tray. Is adding the speaker there just plug and play or requires something else?

I'm sure you will get varying opinions on this and while I don't know what the requirements of an addition would be, I would recommend not adding it. When I upgraded all my speakers(kappas) I bought a center speaker but was told by my installer it would be better to just unplug the center speaker(so I ended up returning it). Hopefully someone smarter than I am can chime in on if adding a center speaker would upgrade a stock system. Also, they are only sold in set so you will have an extra one, there seems to be single speakers for sale every now and then in the classified section if you're dead set on adding it.

Don't do it. It's not worth it. I think it sounds better with it unplugged.

My Sony upgrade did not include the dash tray speaker , after instillation and before DSP was added , sound seamed off . After adding DSP I disconnected the dash tray speaker and what an improvement ... I recommend you forget the dash tray speaker , focus on doors , pillar tweeters , add a sub with amp and last but not least a DSP
