Default Add on remote key less entry / 2016 model

I have a new 2016 XL 4x4 and inside the owners packet I have a card with my key less entry code on it. The catch is I do not have the factory key less entry keypad on my vehicle. I have read that to install an add on key less remote some data needs enabled on the vehicles computer and a trip to a dealer or someone that has programming capability.

If I have the remote key less entry code is there a chance mine is already enabled to accept an add on key less entry ?

Anyway to check ????

I don't know this for a fact but I have a hunch that those add-on number pads are really just a remote like on a FOB. Only they have a number pad that makes them work. Otherwise it would be a huge undertaking to add the keyless entry. The card in your truck was most likely just a mistake.

Yes the keyless entry pad is programmed like a key fob. The pad comes with a key code and when you put the vehicle in key learn mode just enter the code on the pad and it should learn the pad.

Thats not how the newer wireless keypads program to newer vehicles. Each keypad has a unique code and IDS is used to enter the code to the vehicle. You could use forscan to do it if you know what you are doing. The keypads are also dual purpose and the default configuration is for the older vehicles. The configuration has to be changed to get them to work with the newer vehicles.

Also the card that came with the vehicle is for if it had a hardwired keypad. This code is burned into the vehicle BCM and can not be changed. You get a card with it because when BCMs are built that code is embedded in it without knowing if the vehicle it will be going in will have the keypad or not.

SO......is my 2016 likely hardwired from the factory ( think it has an empty plug somewhere inside the door ) since it has the code card ?

I want to add a key less entry but deciding which direction to go and trying to learn the real options / costs from where I am standing right now.

I already programmed a spare key fob ( from a Fusion that had the same FCC number) and the transponder and remote buttons work great and it was simple to program.

My old factory wireless entry programmed exactly the same as adding a new key fob but I thought something was changed in the 2016 models.

You would have to take the door apart and see if it is there. That's the only way you are going to know for sure. If it is there, according to the pigtail information it has a black shell, white inside with 6 terminals all in one row. It would have 5 wires running into (the #4 slot is empty).
