Default AC Compressor Not Engaging

So on my 2016 I noticed today my compressor is not turning on. I took it to the shop the other day to have the 4wd system looked at (everything was okay) then we got hit with a cold snap and was 12F (it’s 35 now) and was getting a bit warm in my truck earlier while driving and noticed the temp wasn’t really changing much when I changed it to 70F then turned it all the way down to low and still not much changed. I turned off recirculating and the air got cold because duh it’s cold outside. So I check the compressor and it’s not engaging at all. I read that it won’t engage below a certain temperature BUT if you turn on defrost it will turn on. Well I tried that and it still didn’t engage. Just seem way to coincidental to stop working after picking it up from the shop. I know it was working before I took it to the shop because I typically keep the AC on and could hear the compressor engage/disengage.

Any ideas?

Maybe something got unplugged while they were looking at it. I'd take a flashlight and look for an unplugged connection, especially around compressor, if not take it back to the shop. Good luck
ps: If the ac light is on, it might have a 'freeze' protection that the compressor actually doesn't come on until maybe 50 deg outside?

The compressor is NOT expected to engage below 40-45F in any mode. Wait for it to warm up.

I do not have info on 2016 AC system, however this is from the 2015 Ford WSM.

MY2016 is the same as 2015. From the 2016 WSM:

A/C Request

When an A/C request is received by the PCM, the A/C clutch relay is engaged when all of the following conditions are met:
  • Excessively high or low refrigerant pressure from the A/C pressure transducer is not detected.
  • Ambient air temperature is above approximately 32.0°F (°C).
  • Evaporator temperature is above approximately 33.8°F (1°C).
  • Engine coolant temperature conditions are within normal parameters.
  • Wide Open Throttle (WOT) condition is not present.
  • Engine torque conditions are within normal parameters.
  • Battery state of charge conditions are within normal parameters.
