Default 80k miles... what should be maintained

OK... my trusty 2015 Platinum has ~80k miles and has trouble free thus far.... have extended warranty for about 15k more miles, but wanted to get feedback as to what I might/should/need to address since I am planning on keeping it for a while yet.

I changed tires ~65k miles... so they are perfect and had disk pads replaced/ rotors turned ~ 10k miles ago... so all set there..... oh yeh, battery failed quite a while ago but will deal with that if needed. Also changed plugs at ~60k and had all seals/leaks done under extended warranty, including rear main, rear end and one turbo leak.....otherwise all seems good.....

No "old wives tales" please about EccoBoost failures, etc..... just points you have to offer regarding hoses, belts, etc.

Thanks, AZPLAT

I would change the coolant and differential fluids. In fact, my truck is going in mid-September for a radiator flush at the dealer. The orange coolant has caused some issues with the colling systems. My dealer charges $189, which is well worth the money for a flush and refill with yellow coolant. The process takes at least five drains and refills to get close to flushing the orange when doing it yourself. I changed the differential fluids myself.

FordTechMakuLoco does not believe in the extended service intervals either. He has much more experience than most of us shade tree mechanics. The coolant flush is my insurance against Ford's poor track record with factory fill coolants.

Aside from above, add transmission fluid/filter change.
Add front diff if you're overly ambitious.
Serpentine belt inspection/replacement if not already done.

A good recommendation for the brake fluid. It is very easy to change out yourself, but you need a compressor and air bleed tool. I bought this one https://www.harborfreight.com/brake-...der-92924.html and it is one of the best investments so far. I bled my brake system using DOT 4 LV at 30K and 60K and a quart of brake fluid.

I used this about two months ago by myself on my 2017. Cheap and easy to do for the brake bleed https://www.harborfreight.com/brake-...kit-63391.html

You don't NEED a compressor. I bought one of these with the ford aluminum screw on fitting for the fluid reservoir and pumped it up to 15psi. It worked great.

Default What about hoses??!!

Thanks for the suggestions.... most I had suspected might be advised.... but it surprised me that no one mentioned the old nemesis .... hoses.... I guess the durability of them has improved enough to take them out of the mix!!??

As to my 100k mile extended warranty, I have the Ford version for 8 years and 100k miles..... now just nudging 80k miles and will expire on 07/21/2-23.... BTW... I already got my investment back with various problems related to leaks, drips, seals etc. that I have had done.... of course maintain filters myself and alignment....

Anyone have suspension-related suggestions.... got 4 wheel alignment with new tires.... rides like a champ with not one rattle!!..... AZPLAT

ESP Purchase Date:

07/22/2015

Mileage:

34900
