6" lift vs. 3" coilovers ? Help.

Does the 4" Zone or BDS kit require cutting of the subframe? I know the 6" does, but I'd like to avoid that if possible so I am considering the 4" options, too.
I have the 4" Zone lift and love it. One of the advantages also in the Zone and BDS is that you can move between 4" and 6" for minimal cost. The components are fabricated the same for the 4" and 6". I was thinking about converting to a 6". Zone quoted me $138 for the 6" front spacers. Thats it, just remove the 4" and install the 6" and you are there. This way in case I go to 6" and want to go back to 4", I have only spent an additional $138.

Great looking truck. I was wondering what size rear block you had, I was thinking zone had some options. Also just want to verify you are running a 35. I am not quite running the 35's I am running the BFG's that are about 34.5" so I am hoping a 4+ wouldn't make them look too small.

Thanks. The rear block is 4". There was about 1.5" rake initially. After talking to BDS I added a 1" front preload spacer that raised the front another 1" roughly. I did this to minimize the rake in lieu of going with a smaller rear block and was recommended by BDS to achieve my goal. No chenge in ride quality. You can buy 3" or 3.5" aftermarket relatively cheap, but I just preferred raising the front a bit. In essence I have a 5" lift. I am running 35x12.50s. You should be good with 4" with the BFGs.

Thanks for the response. I am going to do something very similar, but instead of the spacer I was going to use the boss coilovers I have and adjust them down to 1". So I will end up with about a 5" lift as well, I want a little rake so I was trying to decide if I could stick with the 4" block or if I had to go bigger. Not sure I can get a block from Zone that is in between the 4 and the 6, but I thought the 6" lift had 2 options for blocks. Now I am just worried about the BFG's not being big enough. I already wish I was wider or had more offset so I hope this doesn't make it look even funkier. I guess worse case I just need to wear out my tires sooner and go to 35's!

DWSMOOT, thanks for asking but I have not done this yet. I am actually waiting for it to warm up a little here, since I am going to tackle it myself. Also I am getting a little worried about tire size since I am running BFG's that are only 285/65/20's, I don't want to end up making them look too small for the truck. I really wish they stuck out about an inch more to give the truck a little more of an aggressive look. I guess I should have went with the 35/12.5/20, but I was just afraid it was going to kill gas mileage way too much and possibly rub. I might look into some spacers, but I hate to run them if I don't have too. Next time I need tires I am going 35's for sure!
Also I am not sure if I turn the boss down to only an inch how well they will work and if it will soften up the ride too much. I am still trying to find as much as I can on this and I am going to call around a bit on it as well. Maybe Alex or Stage 3 has some thoughts on how this setup will work.

Did you replace the UCA's? Been reading its best to or stock wears out quick. If so what brand did u go with?

I did not replace my UCA's I have thought about, but haven't gone there yet. I think they will help a little, but at the end of the day I think you are still putting your CV's at pretty much the same angle and under the same stress. I think it might help some, but doesn't really solve the problem either. Also when I put my coilovers on I had them cranked to 2.75" as well, but I had to give up too much in ride quality, as I brought them down just that little bit I got most of the ride quality back and still had most of the lift height I was hoping for. I am sure they might soften up as they break in and settle, but I doubt I will turn them up that high again. BTW love DUBSESD's truck I talked to him prior to doing mine and followed the similar model. Just coming from a truck that had a 6" lift I would still like to get a little more out of mine.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I FINALLY was able to complete my lift. I ended up purchasing a Zone 4" and combining it with my Boss Coilovers for a total of about 5.25 inches of lift. The zone kit is pretty nice and I was able to do the install in my garage. Since I live in Colorado I was also fortunate enough to have Alex at Halo Lifts reset my shocks for my new setup. As far as I can tell I am backwards about 1/4 to 1/2 inch so I may lift the back a little more as long as it will still fit in the garage. I am still running my BFG 285/65/20's and I think it looks pretty good. I would like to get a little more wider stance out of it, but I am going to go ahead and run this setup for now. Thanks to everyone that provided me their measurements and gave me input to get to my final setup.
