I have an XLT (no 4 auto) and a locking diff. In the snow I like to pop the locker on rather than shifting to 4h. Well typically when there is snow it is also cold. When it is cold I wear gloves. When I wear gloves there is no way to pull that low profile ****. So a little grip tape stuck in the recesses has solved that problem .
I have always thought it was an odd shape and should be flared out for easier pulling. I guess if the **** can be removed I could always machine a nicer one.
I was under the impression the locker only engaged under 25 MPH....
Woodsy
That's correct. I just use the locker to get rolling initially. It usually give just enough traction. It engages and disengages much faster than 4H as well.
