$40,000 For This?
Well I have had my 2018 XLT Sport for almost two months now. It has the 5.0 liter motor and ten speed transmission. I traded in my 2014 XLT with the 3.5 Eco Boost and 65,000 on the odometer. I never had a single issue with my 2014. It never burned or used one ounce of oil, and I never even noticed the transmission shifting. I just HAD to get the latest and greatest aluminum body number one selling pickup truck. My new truck has a warped dashboard on the passenger side, it has used half a quart of oil in only 2,500 easy miles all highway driving, it makes a tapping noise which drives me up a wall. And last but not least I can hear more road noise on the freeway than I did with my 2014. Also, don't let me forget about one out of every ten times I start it up, it makes a weird vibration thump noise that sounds like it is coming from the drive train.Only does the thumping start when engine is warm and started with a key or the remote. Other than those issues I am tickled to death with it. LOL

Well Im in the same boat. Ya you shoulda kept the 2014!!! I've gotten beat up on here for stating that my 2018 falls far short of what was promised!
Wish I had my 2013 back too!
Do you have the off-throttle engine rattle noise too?

Not sure what you mean by "off throttle noise" . I know I hear it tapping at idle and behind the wheel when I am accelerating. I tell you what that 3.5 Eco Boost was so quiet in my 2014. I had the small rear end I think it was 3.15. It was also a two wheel drive. I never towed anything with it. Someone got a beautiful truck for $18,500. That was the price advertised. It sold in four days on the lot. That really says alot because it was a two wheel drive. No four by four. It was clean as a whistle. I was **** about it, as many on this forum are with their trucks. The thing that has me the most worried is the ten speed transmission in the 2018. I am hoping Ford knows what they are doing with the 5.0 motor changes. I am hoping the oil consumption is just temporary, having to do with "break in".

1/2 qt in the first 2500 miles. I wish! Mine was low 1-1/2qt after the first 2000 miles.
I'm down to about 3/4qt in 3000 miles now at 10,000 miles.
Everything else about the truck is problem free except an occasional crappy shift from the trans.
I also should've kept my 2014 5.0L. Loved that truck, but just had to have a new one. LOL

Off Throttle Engine Rattle...
When the truck is cold from sitting overnight...when you drive off right away...usually between about 1000-1500 rpms if you let off the throttle theres is a rattle in the engine apparently from the cam VCTs.
It goes away after everything is warmed up but still...!!
There's a TSB for it...but the fix doesn't work.

Shouldn’t be there at all.

I went from a 14 to a 17 and the road noise was VERY noticeable. I think the aluminum body just doesn't muffle the noise like the steel body. I'm used to it now but for a while there I was kind of shocked at the noise level difference.

Wait until you drive in a heavy rain storm. It will sound like people are tapping all over the roof with ball peen hammers.
