Default 3in rc bolt-on arm lift kit

Anybody have this lift on their truck that is willing to share their thoughts, opinions and or reviews?

http://www.roughcountry.com/ford-sus...kit-54520.html

I was thinking about just leveling and adding 285/75R18 tires on stock wheels; however, I have heard I may have a slight rub when backing and turning.

Personally, think the extra inch looks decent for the money and would prevent any rubbing fears with this size or 35" tire.

This kit only corrects the upper control arm angle. The CV axle will be at an extreme angle. I love the idea of a 3" lift, but I wouldn't do it without a differential drop.

That's not a lift kit, it's a glorified leveling kit. As gdom said your CVs will be at an atrocious angle, will wear big time and be much more prone to breakage. Sounds fun doesn't it? Any company that makes one of these kits should be avoided.

If your truck is 2wd go for it. If yours is 4wd, id stick with a 2-2.5" leveling struts.

Is there something different with Ford's axles that they can't handle 3" of lift? I just came over from the Tacoma scene and coilovers set at 3" is pretty standard ( I had my kings at 3"). As long as the fins aren't rubbing you are fine. I don't mean it as an insult but the overwhelming majority of guys on TW spend significantly more time off-road than the members here appear to do.

Toyota cv axles are actually more sensitive than ford. When you do a leveling kit on a Toyota, you should do a differential drop. On a Toyota, this only takes a couple of longer bolts and spacers above the differential. On a ford, you have to cut one of the cross members and replace it with new cross members and differential drop brackets. Almost all ford lift kits 4" and up will have the new cross members and diff brackets. That's why they are more expensive.

That's not true. The diff drop for Toyota's has been debunked as harmful as it only drops the rear end of the diff making it unlevel. There are countless guys running 3" of lift from coilovers and new leaf packs with zero problems. I know because I was one of them. I'm new to ford so I don't know much about the f150 but I know my Toyota's damn good.

Nice looking Tacoma. You're probably right about the Tacoma diff drop. I didn't have my '12 Tacoma with bilsteins set to 2.5" very long and I went through 3 cv axles. My neighbor had cv issues with his 4Runner as well. It was very capable off-road, but I was tired of breaking it.

Were you tearing the CV boots? Actually breaking a front axle is pretty rare. It's the e-locker you have to be careful with.
