3.5 or 5.0 if both are 3.55?

Regardless, I didn't want Turbos and bought the 5.0.

holy 'ecoboost is fastest thing ever' posts in this thread... I hope none of you ride in a vehicle that actually busts out of the 13 second club, you might shat your pants.
OP and DogDoc, you should drive them. I wouldnt buy the ecoboost if i wasnt going to run premium fuel in it (but thats just me), so thats a consideration IMO. The 5.0 will take a much bigger hit if you go up in tire size/weight, but would probably still net better mpg in the end. The ecoboost is more fun to drive, and sounds good with resonator deletes (if you like turbo noises).

Premium gas is not needed in the Eco. If you want to put it in go for it. If you can afford a brand new 2015 F-150 you can afford premium fuel. If it makes you feel better go for it but it's not needed and I wouldn't feel obligated to do it.

I'm sure Ford puts both engines in the F-150 because some people won't buy one or the other for various crazy reasons. Like me, I wanted the V8 sound but quickly got over it after loving the way the Eco drove vs the 5.0. Options are great... Buy what you want because you like it.

Test drive is a must!
I bought a '15 about a month ago after test-driving both the 5.0 and 3.5 eco at two different dealerships. The 3.5 was much more fun to drive, had much more low end torque, and accidentally laid down a track of rubber for probably 100 feet when I was only giving it half throttle. Also, I noticed that the 5.0 needed to downshift several gears when trying to accelerate from 30-40 MPH, but the 3.5 eco maybe downshifted 1 gear and then quickly gave me power. After the test-drive I didn't look at the 5.0 again.
OP, you need to drive them yourself to see what fits your driving style. I thought the 5.0 sounded awesome, but I am one of those guys who thinks the 3.5 eco sounds good too (even with the "fake" sound from the speakers). I've had a turbocharged car before and like the turbo whistle.

Wait until you have to replace the water pump on that Ecoboost, $$$$. That Bugger is behind the timing cover, not for me.

When was the last time you saw a water pump go out? Man I don't think I have replaced a water pump in twenty five years in a vehicle and I drive my vehicles a lot of miles before I trade them.

I agree with this ^^, I mean its not the 80s anymore.

Accidentally laid down a track of rubber for 100 feet at half throttle? Come on...with all the traction control and safety garbage on vehicles these days and you "accidentally" burned rubber for 100 feet?
Maybe accidentally is a loose term here.
