Default 2020 2.7 Engine Replacement

I'm over my head on this one; looking for advice and recommendations.

I purchased a used 2020 XLT with the 2.7 EcoBoost. It had approximately 20,000 miles on it when I purchased it earlier this year (July). One owner, clean Carfax and Autocheck; purchased from Echo Park in Denver.

Just over a month ago (October-ish) it developed an oil leak. My local Ford dealer replaced the right side valve cover and the oil pan. Regarding the oil pan, info from the dealer states they "replaced the oil pan (updated with gasket), used Ford cleaning procedure and applied Silicone TA-357 joints; torqued all oil pan bolts to spec". Total time at the dealership was 4-1/2 days.

A week or so later the leak recurred. After taking it back to the same dealership and leaving it with them for three days, they informed me the oil pan was leaking again, that they performed the exact same repairs for a second time, and could not get the leak to stop.

The service rep provided me with a transcript he was having with Ford's Technical Assistance Team. Excerpts say that "it is likely that the skirt block stiffener is damaged or warped". "The short block or just the skirt block stiffener will need to be replaced". The dealer stated they "used straight edge and found right side engine block uneven".

To make things more fun, the dealer informed me today that, due to all of the shortages of everything, a new short block was not currently available (although he indicated that could change any day), and that he was looking into procuring a long block. The dealership has given me a loaner (Ford Escape, not a bad little car) and has otherwise been very good about this. Everything is covered under warranty. I know I need to do a lot of research on my end, and posting on this forum is a good place to start.

So.....

Comments/advise/things to ask/what to look for etc, etc, etc would be greatly appreciated.

There is not really much to say, the dealer is going to give you either a new short block or a new long block and you will be good to go. You got a loaner, what exactly are you worried about? You seem taken care of.

Sounds like you're all set, just wait for the new engine. Be grateful you apparently have a competent dealer who looks to be on top of the situation.
