SSM 47709 - 2019 Mustang/F-150 - USB Ports No Longer Illuminated

2019 Mustang and F-150 vehicles no longer have illumination around the USB ports within the media hub. The lack of illumination around the USB ports is not a defect/fault and the replacement of any parts would not be considered a warrantable repair. Do not submit a claim for this condition.

First the ambient light, then the PRND, and now this. What's next Ford? LED headlights only on Limited trims?

First world problems...

USB ports got lights? What's next, illuminated turn signal stalk? Door handles? Lug nuts?

Seriously, I'd not want USB port lights if they don't go out while driving. Too tempting to hunt visually while driving, prefer to do it by feel. Are those the same as mine, not intended for use other than USB drives? Can't imagine needing snazzy lights to insert a USB drive once or twice a year.

Now that I've owned my 150 a few months, I bought extra cables I leave plugged in. My hunting days are over.

This small cost cutting is to compensate for the increased cost of aluminum due to the now unstable trade market. Prepare for more little details to be dropped or more standard features being moved to the options list.

ford might try to blame it on that, but decontenting is nothing new, the auto industry has been doing it for decades.

The fewer the lights, the better! I don't understand why people want all this ambient light INSIDE the truck. I do most of my driving during hours of darkness and have been for years. With every new MY vehicle, the lights inside get brighter and brighter. As it is, the dashboard on modern vehicles is downright blinding. If I could turn it off, I would, like in the older vehicles. It's things like this and that ridiculous "Bambi mod" that make me shake my head. I understand that people want their stuff to "look cool", but at the expense of safety?

Default 2019 F150 Lariat USB Illumination

Good afternoon,
This should help y’all. You can order this USB Hub PN: HC3T-14F014-AC it’s out of a 2018 Ford Ecosport I own. Illuminates perfectly in a F150. The one illuminated in the attached picture is one for a 2020 Ford Ecosport. To sum all this up is the USB Hubs from 2018-2021 Ford Ecosport will take care of the non-illuminated USB Hub issues. I did however have to do two soft reset on the SYNC System to one: reset the Bluetooth and two: volume on the Apple Car Play. I’ll attach a picture of that as well. After that everything works perfectly.

This part number is for a 2018 Ford Ecosport

This USB Hub is for a 2020 Ford Ecosport. Works perfectly!

This will perform a soft reset on the SYNC System

Default 2019 F150 Lariat PRNDM Non-Illuminated

Wanted to add to my previous post that I’m working on gathering the part numbers to cure the non-illuminated PRNDM and hope to have that information soon. Will be plug and play.

Park Assist and Lane Assist Illuminated, but not the PRNDM
