Greetings All : I am a new member and look forward to this forum. I have driven F150 vehicles since 2001 and I just took delivery in Dec 2018 of a F150 Sport 4x4. To my surprise I found out that I cannot just simply unlock the tailgate with my key but have to unlock the whole truck just to get into the back of my truck. Is the experience for all or just some other owners? Also I purchased an dealer installed option - a ford hard tonneau cover which will not stay secure - as it will slide from side to side as much as a half an inch - all on its own. Again is anyone else experiencing this issue?

About to unlock the whole truck to unlock the tailgate, all recent F150 are this way. With a power tailgate (Lariat and above) you can unlock it (open it) without unlocking the whole truck.

All this can be modified by reprogramming the Body Control Module with Forscan software.

 

thanks for your input - what a screw up by ford on this one - could have easily had both power and key options so easily

If the tonneau cover is sliding side to side, it seems it isn't fitted tight at the front.

 

I believe my cover is defective as the dealership has already tightened the 2 wing nuts at the front but each panel has side to side movement and thus causing the problem - or so it is suspected

 

I was actually just checking out my cousin's new 2019 F-150 with the Ford tri-fold hard tonneau cover this past weekend, and just like my Undercover Flex, it is solid. If yours moves side-to-side, there's definitely something wrong with it.
