Default 2018 steering wheel button issue

Hey guys new here. Sold off my 99 f350 7.3 diesel back in April and bought a 2018 3.5 f150. Truck has been great aside from one issue. Once in a while I have a problem with the wheel buttons. When I leave the house the on button will not turn on the cruise control. Try again a minute later and all is fine. Sometimes the set speed buttons don't work. Sometimes when hitting up to scroll through the dash menu it acts like I'm pressing ok and wants to reset my trip. Sometimes my right side buttons I will be pushing right to scroll my sirius presets but it is actually going left. All of these examples eventually work fine but this is what has me puzzled. Possibly looking at bad buttons? Module? I do know when I activated global windows with forscan it had an error with the sccm. Steering colum control module if I remember the name right? I don't remember the code but I want to say it was a voltage issue. Anyone have this problem and some advice where to start?

Although it could be the buttons, it is also likely the clockspring is starting to go bad. It is a reasonably common issue.

Clockspring. Easy fix? What is a good replacement brand?

The OE is usually what most people have used for replacement. There have been several revisions to the part through the years. The replacement is pretty straight forward.

Thanks. Will look in to this. Is there any way to diagnose this? Also any chance someone has a part number?

Sometimes when you turn the steering wheel you can hear a slight clicking. Sometimes not. You can perform a DTC scan with FORScan or other diagnostic scan tool (not a cheap OBDII reader) to make sure there isn't some other issue, but usually a clockspring issue doesn't broadcast DTCs.

If you are not sure that is the problem, wait, it will likely get worse and other buttons will most likely start having issues. One thing to remember is that the airbag circuit goes through the clockspring.

I will monitor as time goes on and keep this in mind. Thank you. The only issue I've had I don't like is it shut my cruise off at 77 mph once in traffic. Didnt like that for safety reasons. If it gets worse I can put a spring in it.
