crazy. I always change my oil at 5k regardless, but the OLM is usually still over 45%.

Same here, I was wondering the same thing.

About to change my oil on Thursday with the truck just under 6k miles on this oil. OLM states 27% remaining.

OK. This would suggest the OLM suggesting you need an oil change around 8,000 miles then if you let it get to 5% or less.

Currently gives an estimate of 2,500 miles left. So, between 8-8,500 yeah. It's a 5.0 with 65,921 on her, for what it's worth and it's babied.

I’d definitely avoid paying the dealer $17k. Get a used engine from Blue Prism Automotive instead—they have good warranties and lower prices. Then, take it to an independent shop that knows EcoBoost engines well. Sludge buildup can happen over time if the oil wasn’t changed often enough or if the truck had a lot of stop-and-go driving.

On my 2 F-150s it has varied between 6K and close to 9K, depending on the season and type of driving. More highway miles than than stop-and-go.
