Also, I don't believe wheel size is going to affect inclement weather performance. Your tire size may impact that some, but it will be primarily the width. The biggest impact on weather performance will be the type of tires you have on. Mud tires will be terrible on ice, where as a true winter tire will be pretty good.

Define outperform. Speed? Torque?

Hmmmm. Tough to say, but I'd have to say the 5.0 with 3.73's will do better. Higher gear ratios do better at putting torque to the ground, which helps with acceleration and sheer pulling power. I may be biased since I've got a 5.0, but I've got 3.31 gears.

Speaking of higher gear ratio's can you explain to me why the f-150 V-8 outperforms the Toyota Tundra , when the tundra has 4.30 rear end gears and basically the same HP and torque. Is it because the ford is lighter ?

As for your wheel/tire combo, you’re not buying 18” tires. You’re buying 18” wheels with 32” tires. The wheels make no difference in traction. The tires touch the ground. The wheels don’t. Traction is entirely dependent on your choice of tire tread and compound. Which song you pick to play through the stereo has about the same effect on traction that the wheels do.

It depends on your definition of outperform. The EB is better on the low end at the 5.0 is better on the high end. Neither engine is definitively better than the other. They’re better at specific tasks. Drive both and see what you like. You’re the one paying the bill.

Why not order from the factory? Then you can get the exact wheels and trim you want. I did, and specifically ordered 18" wheels on my Lariat. I'm in the NE, like you, Manhattan to be specific, and the roads here are terrible as I'm sure you know. My last ride was a BMW 3 series and I made the mistake of ordering the 'sport package' with non-optional run flats. Mainly, the sport package was low profile tires, runflats at that. I must have replaced at least four wheels before i wised up and ditched them for BBS wheels and regular tires. So yes, I could afford a BMW and I could afford multiple destroyed wheels, but why not order the right wheels in the first place? I would agree with the commentators that state the size of the wheel has no bearing on snow ability, but it sure makes a difference on rough roads.

1/4 mile the best performer is the 2.7 EB, torque it's the 3.5EB. The 5.0 doesn't win any performance category.

What is a K02? I have no idea. I switch to Michelins after the factory tires wear out. Better ride, better wear, better traction, The 20s are a premium over the 18s and I do have my numbers straight. I drive a lot of miles and replace a lot of tires.
