I never would have known the history of the car had he not sought me out. The car lot did not tell me.
It was a LX coupe and really did not seem much different than most others. I just liked it. My best CAR ever ('81 Bronco best overall).

Well the car was ordered by an individual GI who was overseas and then picked up at a dealer in the military exchange program back East on his return. Then after driving to his new duty station in Oklahoma he spied a newer Turbo Thunderbird 5 speed on a used car lot and had to have it. I came along that same lot soon enough after and got a great deal on a newer mustang. A few months later I pulled into a gas station and so did he. He asked where I bought the car, and then told me the story and asked if I would trade him straight across. I said no even though the Thunderbird was likely more valuable. That is why I know the car was ordered. He could have ordered standard gears, I don't know. I just know he ordered it.

The point im trying t make is that it was NOT 'ordered' with the 2.73's, thats standard and no one oders a car with stand features. Its like ordering a Mustang GT with a 5.0 engine. You can't because it already comes with it. He could have ordered a 3.08 rear as on option though

Yes he ordered the car, it was delivered with 2.73's which you believe were Standard. I believe 3.08's were standard on five speed cars with 2.73's or 3.55's optional, but I could be wrong. I think 2.73's were standard on automatics with 3.08's optional, that just seems more natural to me. I don't know.

I agree, the Platinum is one hell of a truck with immense creature comforts. That being said for me I would personally take the Platinum over the Raptor unless you are into doing some serious off roading. I myself settled on a Lariat, I couldn't justify the extra costs associated with the Platinum and put my own wheels on my truck.

i just bought an 18 platinum and i would suggest that a lariat well equipped costs just about the same as the platinum. i was looking at the optuon group 502A (has the lane features, led headlights, rear seat warmers) and the sticker was 65 and change.. the platinum msrp sticker was also 65 and change.. but in addition to the lariat it got the higher trim level (counts on resale) nicer leather, comfier seats, massage seats, metal door trim etc... for the same money. i dont see why anyone would get the 502a in those circumstances.
xl is a work truck.. xlt is needing a lot of bolt ons but you can at least get most of them. lariat 501a is really pretty nice as long as you replace the headlight bulbs with Led aftermarket. - if price is an issue.
agreed with the above posters, raptor is a halo truck for the brand - its just there be ridiculous and not for any other real reason. unless you live in an offroad park in baja?
